Garden State

Has anybody else seen the movie Garden State? The SU and I watched it last night and it was pretty excellent. Depressing in some parts but what good movie isn't? One part that I found a little rude though: The main character, played by Zach Braff (the lead character on Scrubs), is saying good-bye to this guy who has been investigating a huge crevasse and Zach says, "Good luck exploring the infinite abyss!" and this guy says, "You too." Zach was just about to hook up with Natalie Portman. She's a little flirtatious but I think that was a bit overboard.

I love that movie, and Natalie Portman isn't too hard to look at either. It has an excellent soundtrack too.

I really liked the way it was shot. I am not sure how to describe what I mean (since I am the antithesis of artistic), but the way the camera angles were and the speed and changes in the shots really expressed how the main character felt inside. It was really cool. Braff wrote and directed it too which is amazing. It reminded me of Punch Drunk Love in that the camera work really added to the emotional feel of the movie.

Garden State is clearly a wonderful movie, not only because the characters are great and it has that really odd humor in it. But because its about one of the best states that our country has. New Jersey gets a bad rap just because yea, some parts smell a little, our governor was gay and they can't seem to get the budget together. But I have to thank New Jersey for existing because not only is it my home but the home of many greats such as Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Jack Nicholson(who went to my high school) and many others. If you want to know all really cool facts about the Garden State:http://www.mistupid.com/facts/page068.htm

This New Jersey public service announcement brought to you by Steph, because it takes a picture of a cute girl in a strapless top to make anybody want to find out more about NJ.

My brother moved to NJ a few years ago but I've never been out there to visit. Heck, I lived in Buffalo, NY for the first 30 years of my life and never went to NYC either. I probably should do both someday.

Great movie. Zach Braff is highly talented. Last I heard he was dating Mandy Moore. He's got a blog I used to check out - updates it often.

Elle- It took me a second to figure out that was a quote. At first I was like, "Omigod, what did I do?" and started scrolling up as fast as my freakishly long fingers could scroll. Whew.

That's one of mine and Joe's favorite movies. We rented it, and then liked it so much that we bought it.

I don't think he was insinuating that natalie portman was loose....I think he meant the abyss of his future.....or something.
