Turkey Day

I take the dogs (and Sylvia if she's home) for hikes at this excellent state park near our house. The park has a lot of places designated as prairie restoration areas so they're basically big fields with lots of tall native grasses and wildflowers and such. So I was there a week or two ago and our dog Marisol jumps off the trail and into the grass and scares the crap out of this turkey which was hiding just off trail. The bird of course starts making this loud gobbling noise, scaring the crap out of me, and goes flying down the field. It was pretty cool.

So for the rest of the day I referred to Marisol as my Beast of Birdin'.

Get it? Like Beast of Burden except it's Birding said with a twag? You know, Birdin'?

Oh nevermind.

Our dog killed a dove two nights ago. Take that Marisol!

limpy: Marisol just missed a squirrel yesterday. She always runs like a bat out of hell after them but generally doesn't get anywhere close. I don't know if this guys wasn't paying attention or didn't hear me open the door to let the dogs out or what but he was about 5 feet from being dog food.

Puhlease Limpy! Marisol got a dove about a year and a 1/2 ago and I am sure you recall the story of her killing the baby bunny (posted here a few months ago). Take that Limpy's dog!

Oh yeah. Well Ripley has killed ginormous ground hogs, rabbits, and chipmonks. BP always says, "she's tasted blood, we're going to have to put her down."
