Look What I Got!

The Spousal Unit has fairly recently taken up knitting. She made a few washcloths and is working on a scarf for her sister and she asked if I'd like something. I said, "How about a hat?" She said, "I don't know how to make a hat yet, but ok." so she found a pattern, adapted it a bit and I got this:

I love it. Very nicely done. It fits great and as soon as it's not 95 degrees I'll wear it all the time.

And they said I'm only with her for her body. Well, her knitting fingers are part of her body so I guess there's more truth to that than I wanted to admit at first.

That rocks! Knitting and crocheting are a lost art. I made a scarf once. Yeaaaaaaaaaah, it wasn't supposed to be the shape and size it was. It looked like it had gone through a tug-o-war before I even had it done, so I gave up on the whole crocheting thing.

The ruffly feel to the bottom is due to the rather wide ribbing used in the pattern. That can be helped by blocking. Either put it in luke warm water (Don't scrub at it!) or use a steamer/iron with steam setting, shape it, and let it dry. 1x1 or 2x2 ribbing should lay a bit flatter in general since those are tighter ribs.
