Canada Day!

July 1st is the day that Canada celebrates its independence. It's their 4th of July, if you will. This year it falls on a Saturday which happens to be a day much more conducive to drinking than the Tuesday on which our Independence Day falls. So the Spousal Unit and I are holding a Canada Day party. We're supplying Sahlen's Hot Dogs (The World's, nay, the UNIVERSE'S greatest hot dogs), burgers, turkey Italian sausage, a few varieties of Canadian beer and the traditional pyrotechnic type activities. Our invitees are supplying the sides and desserts. Sound like fun? I hope so.

In my never ending quest to keep the Spousal Unit enamored with me I have made the effort to learn "O Canada" in the traditional half English/ half French version. I've known the English version forever since I'm from Buffalo, NY which is practically Canada but I needed to learn the French portion. For whatever reason when Sylvia hears it half and half before a hockey game it totally gets her motor running. Ergo, I learned it. Here's to Canada and a Spousal Unit with a purring motor!

*sigh*, how come I never get invited to your parties? uggghhhhh.

By "motor going", are you referring to turning her on. Because in that case, you must have a voice like Elvis.

You two sound like such a fun couple. Did you have fireworks? And I do mean the flammable kind, and not the personal kind. ;o)

I had no idea I was being so international with my; beer drinking, hot dog eating, illegal fireworks, Diet Coke exploding day of good cheer on Saturday!

Yeah, we had a great time.

ELLE- Of course you were invited. Didn't you get your invitation? I bet Steph was jealous so she threw it out. I'd punch her if I were you. Don't tell her why, she should know.

DB- As Sylvia mentioned, yup we had fireworks. It was the first time we ever had "real" fireworks. You know, beyond sparklers and such. It went well. The neighborhood is still intact.

PG- I expect to see hot dog eating pictures for the next HNT.

Actually, Blackie's makes the best hot dogs. But it's mostly in the relish. Although not Canadien, (or is it Canadian; I can never remember), I also find the bilingual anthem pretty cool at the hockey games. And there ain't nothing wrong with cold Molson Ale.

Ah, Sylvia, I'm so thrilled I would have been invited.

You missed out on mini above ground swimming pool time with beer and good looking boys. (Sylvia, not you, Phollower).

Phollower, you're a crazy bastard. I punch Steph all the time. She usually has black eyes that she insists are just from lack of sleep (she loves me too much to ever admit our abusive relationship).

And both of you are totally invited to our next soiree. The big 2-1/2-5 is right around the corner.

I would pay big money to watch that. Maybe I'll stock up on Jell-o and I can bring the 2 of you in for entertainment for next year's celebration. I bet dancers are really bendy. Do either of you have any allergies to artificial lime flavoring?

And about that invite... maybe Steph is right. But I'd punch her for making you feel bad. And for whatever else you can come up with. But seriously, if I thought there was a chance in h-e-double hockey sticks that the two of you would've made the 14 hour drive so you could drink beer and watch our $35 firework display you would totally have gotten an e-vite.

Honey, the excuse "I didn't use my hands" is not going to work so don't try it.

The hot dogs aren't Canadian, they're Buffalonian but that's pretty close. You're right about the strip clubs though. Although in Buffalo it's referred to as "The Canadian Ballet".
